Materials
- Grapes
- Seltzer water
- Glass Cup
Procedure
First make a prediction using your free download!
Fill the glass with seltzer water three quarters of the way full. Put a handful of grapes into the glass of seltzer water. Watch the grapes dance!
Explained
The grapes are heavier than the water. This would make you think the grapes should sink, however, the carbon dioxide in the seltzer water creates bubbles. These bubbles attach to the grapes and help them make their way back to the top! When the bubbles hit the air at the top, they pop, and the grapes goes back down again.
Be sure to remind your preschooler that grape starts with G!
