Letter B Activity
Tired of making the letter B boring? Get your preschooler excited through this activity. Beans and Boats is designed to be a hands on activity that reinforces letter B sounds. The use of fine motor skills and counting is a bonus! Be sure to download the free Beans and Boats worksheet before you start.
Materials Needed
- Fine Motor Tweezers (example- the green tweezers in the photo. You can find some at the dollar store).
- Tin Foil
- Water
- Bin (to put water in).
Procedure
Start by getting the tin foil ready. Let your preschooler use their creativity to turn a simple piece of tin foil into a durable boat. Do they want to add a sail? A table? Let them! Let them decided how big or small they want their boat to be. Remind them that boat starts with, you guessed it, the letter B.
Next, it is time to sail! Get a bin filled with water and start your preschooler's journey on the 'seas'. Using fine motor tweezers, put one bean in the boat at a time. See how many beans the boat can hold! Will the boat start to sink? And again, beans starts with B so remind them.
Once you are done, download the worksheet Beans and Boats and have your preschooler record what happened.
